Prof. Yonah is an associate professor, Ben Gurion University of the Negev. He holds a Ph.D. from the philosophy department, University of Pennsylvania, USA. Prof. Yonah was a senior research fellow in the Van Leer Institute (1998-2012) in Jerusalem where he headed research groups dealing with various aspects of Israeli society – social, cultural and economic. Prof. Yonah has published extensively on topics pertaining to moral and political philosophy, philosophy of education and multiculturalism.
In the year 2011 he served as the head of the advisory team to the social protest movement taking place in Israel in 2011. Prof. Yonah held a seat in The Israeli Parliament between the years 2015-2019, the Labor Party. Prof. Yonah is a member of the Steering Committee, the Geneva Initiative; a Board member, the Adva Center (Equality and Social Justice Monitor, Israel); a Board member, The Association of Ethiopian Jews.
Yonah’s second novel, “Very Good Figs,” was recently published (December 2020) in Hebrew. His book, “The Fusion of Horizons: Manifestations of the Political in Israeli Visual Arts,” was also published in late 2020.
